Lately Molly has been singing “He’s got the whole world in His hands.” She will sing “He’s got the little bitty babies, in His hands” over and over…I think she’s on to something. When I think of the millions of orphans in the world and the millions of orphans in DRC alone, my mind is blown away by the overwhelming number. Estimated 146 million worldwide and 5 million in DRC alone…as a girl from rural North Dakota, where the whole state’s population is only 683,000 people that is absolutely astonishing. It’s easy to get so discouraged at that and wonder “what can I do? I am just one person.” But I think God wants us to remember that it is HIM who has these babies in HIS hands and loves them so much more than we can imagine. He died for them, just as He did for all of us. But He has also called us to be His hands and feet on this earth now!! We need to pray about what He would have us do for them and listen to that call. Over and over in scripture it reminds us that we are here to care for the orphans, the fatherless.
I have to say it is pretty comforting knowing that He does have our little love in HIS hands until we can have her in ours. Thank you God for that promise!!
