The start of our journey to DRC

I have always had a heart for international adoptions, especially since I volunteered at God’s Littlest Angels orphanage in Haiti while I was in college.  Since that day I had dreamed about what God’s plan for my life would be and praying that it would include a child from Haiti.

Fast forward six years…I am now married to a wonderful man with two of the biggest blessings of my life, Owen and Molly, our biological kids. Haiti’s laws are such that we would not qualify to adopt, so my dream went on hold.  I work for a domestic adoption agency and felt that God may have a domestic adoption in mind for our family.  Little did I know that He was planting a seed for Congo in my heart.  After researching international adoption and Africa, I was drawn to DRC!  After lots of prayer, my husband’s desire grew also for this country.  We finally took the leap and got our homestudy complete.  Our homestudy was officially approved January 2nd!

We recently received a referral  on January 12, 2012 for an 8 1/2 month old little girl!  My heart fell in love with her!  She has the biggest eyes!  Molly immediately stated that was “my girl” and told her grandma that is “my sister.”  So…our baby girl is across the ocean until we can travel to meet her!  Now will be the difficult period, when my heart knows her and all I want to do is get on a plane and love her up.  I am so thankful I love a God who knew who our little girl was before she was even born!  He has her life in His hands and will hold her until we get to!

We are excited for you to follow our journey to DRC!  Please keep us in your prayers throughout the process, as I’m sure there will be trying days while we wait.
